Users with Mobile Compute (Node-locked) licenses:
- Acquire an updated license file. If you have a SupportNet account you can download it.
- Install the updated license file. Refer to How to install a PADS license for my machine or hardware key (Mobile Compute)for detailed instructions.
- If you are prompted to 'Append' or 'Replace' an existing license file, select the 'Replace' option, to ensure only the most current licenses are installed for your Site (and therefore the 'options expiring' message should go away).
- Starting with PADS9.5 the 'Append' option adds the new license file content to the top of the existing license file (used to add to the bottom).
- Anytime a license is 'replaced', a backup copy is made down in the license file directory (by default the C:\MentorGraphics\license_files directory).
Alternative approach:
- Acquire an updated license file. If you have a SupportNet account you can download it.
- Open PADS Layout and navigate to the Help>Installed Options... menu option, and to the License File tab.
- In the License File tab (see below) you will find the path to the license file. Navigate to that location in My Computer, rename the file, and insert the newly downloaded license file into the same (exact) location.

Users with Floating/Network based licenses:
Have the I.T. or Systems Administrator:
- Acquire an updated license file. If you have a SupportNet account you can download it.
- Install the updated license file to the license server. Refer to How to add additional licenses to the license file on the serverfor instructions.
